New site banner

Slightly new look on this blog. I made a new banner today! Trial and error perseveres. Played with a free download of Paint.Net photo editing program. How does it look?

Now to spend just as much time on more card creations!

3rd grade class project - "Embossed Mom's Day Card

I was asked by my son's teacher to create and demo a card for the class to make and take home for their mommies for Mother's day. This is the card I came up with to teach the 3rd graders to make.

The die cut letters were run through the Big Shot prior to me coming to class. That's 3 letters x 20 cards! Four stations were set up for the kids:
  1. pressure emboss the 'Stylized Flower' card front
  2. die cut the celery oval tag
  3. punch the rose flower
  4. attach the M-O-M and ribbon to the tag
The class really enjoyed using the Big Shot. They were amazed at how the card stock came out "bumpy and flowered" just by cranking the handle! I always love making art projects with my kidos and their classmates. It makes me smile every time the kids see me they get excited and say, "Are you doing an art project today?!"

My journey on the road to Blogging... watermark for pics - CHECK!

One small step in my self guided journey. Wouldn't you know it... I've had Photo Shop elements in my laptop since 2003. I had NO idea! I went to my go to site on most all things ( SplitCoastStampers ) and search the forums for watermark how-tos. Found a post directing me to krabearkub's video tutorial on his blog.

Yipee... I'm crawling my way to a blog!

I have a blog... now what?!

So many things to figure out!

I guess first is first. I should start with the basics
WHAT- this blog is to share my paper craft creations
WHY- to chronical my creative journey, if you will
HOW- through trail-and-error? OJT? fumbling & stumbling through the web?

Things I want to learn to add to this blog:
-pictures
-signature for my posts (must learn how to make one first)
-background that suits me and the blog title
-widgets and gadgets

Things I should re-learn:
web graphics- I have to dust off my copy of Paint Shop Pro7

I'm off to dive in and find free resources to pretty up this place. WISH ME LUCK.
